DIGNITY, simplicity and strength werethe watchwords of the New Englandbuilders, and the Standish, designed in thesame spirit, possesses every one of thesequalities. Beautiful old-fashioned doorwa% small-paned windows, wide clapboards, odd set-in dormers, massive chimneys, brick-flooredporches, all are details which make up thesum of harmonious design. The Standish would be the pride of almostany community and a continual joy to thefamilv Iuck- enough to call it their own. The New Englanders have given ussome of our finest doorways. This isone of their best. The hood formed bythe bay window juttijig out above andtwo tiny windows flanking the doorcompletes the artistic arrangement. 12 In keeping with the dig-nified exterior are tlie ves-tibule and hall. Off thebig living room, Frenchdoors open on the porch. The many windowed din-ing room has a swing doorto the kitchen, fromwhich a pantry opens.Note the clothes chute.
